The annual Friends of St. Tudno’s Pilgrimage was held in the Harlech area. Travelling in cars, the 18 Pilgrims stopped at Plas Brondanw for coffee and to visit the gallery and garden. St. Tudno’s Churchyard is part of Llandudno in Bloom’s judging route for Wales in Bloom. The judge met some of the Friends of St. Tudno’s, who manage the churchyard, inspected the churchyard and was shown a display of “A year in the churchyard”. The display will remain in the church throughout the summer.

The Friends of St. Tudno’s held a working party after the open air service and performed various jobs to tidy the churchyard. Two of the Friends had already searched for and recovered a particular gravestone which had become lost under the grass.

The Friends of St. Tudno’s entered the churchyard in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood scheme and the assessor visited St. Tudno’s to meet the Friends and view the churchyard.
Members of the Friends’ Committee went on a “recce” to prepare for the Pilgrimage. This included sampling lunch at Y Maes Cafe at Llandanwg!
The Pilgrimage will be to churches and other places of interest in the Harlech area. We will leave Holy Trinity Church at 9.00 am and will be travelling by car and stopping for coffee, lunch and tea are interested in joining us, please Contact Us for further information.
The Friends prepared for the Great Get Together picnic by trimming the grass and setting out tables decorated with the Great Get Together red and white gingham.
Each year the Friends of St. Tudno’s organise a guided walk on the Great Orme, led by a local expert. This year the subject was churchyard geology and geologist Martin Trevelyan-Jones told us about the various rocks from which headstones in the churchyard had been made.

The Friends of St. Tudno’s welcomed members of the Great Orme Exploration Society (GOES) to St. Tudno’s for a tour of the churchyard. The Friends told stories of some of the people buried in the churchyard and the (rather cold!) evening finished with hot drinks and cakes in the church.
During the Friends of St. Tudno’s spring working party the church was cleaned and the benches put out. There was insufficient grass to rake and remove but the “grave wobbling” survey was performed.
