Parish Fellowship News

The Parish Fellowship has reached the mid-term point of the Spring Programme. Father John led us in Holy Eucharist at our first meeting, this was also our AGM. Over the next few weeks we welcomed four new members and they, like the established members, enjoyed the various topics delivered by our invited speakers. Our first speaker was Wendy Raffles who has entertained us many times before with amusing, funny and poignant poetry.

The following week we welcomed Laura Crawford, a local severely disabled person, who for some time gave talks on Support Dogs. Laura has now given up that task but was persuaded to bring her dog along for one more time. We saw a video of three examples where dogs aid disabled people, empting washing machines, opening doors, collecting mail etc.

This week we invited some other local speakers: they are a married couple from Craig-y-don, Mr.and Mrs. Rakhra. They run a bird rescue company “Joan’s North Wales Parrot Rescue” at their home. They take in unwanted birds and help people who love their birds and want to change the behaviour of the bird which, for various reasons, the owners struggle with. The main point made was that parrots are not good presents to give anyone who does not understand them. They are apparently very destructive creatures. It was then with some reservation that I allowed a South American Macaw to rest on my forearm.
