I'm using my letter in this month's magazine to tell you about
some important events coming up in our parish this autumn which I hope
everyone will support.
We have been invited to record two Sunday services for Radio Wales at
Holy Trinity Church. The first will be broadcast on November 16th and
the second on the Sunday after Christmas - December 28th.The recording
of both services will take place on the same evening in early October -
either Monday 6th orTuesday 7th - this date will be confirmed very
shortly. Our choir will be very much involved, of course and we will
need people for readings and prayers. But we also need as many of our
congregation to be present to join in the hymns and prayers and to
provide the atmosphere of worship. So please do your best to be present
at the recording.
On Saturday 25th October Holy Trinity Church will be host to members of
the Guild of St Raphael from all over Great Britain for the 2014 Guild
Festival and Annual General Meeting. We have had a branch of the Guild
in the parish for some years now and the Healing Ministry is an
important aspect of the life of our parish, and so we are very much
looking forward to welcoming fellow Guild members to our parish church.
The highlight of the day will be the Festival Eucharist at I 1.45 am at
which the celebrant and preacher will be the Warden of the Guild, the
Rt. Revd Stephen Conway, Bishop of Ely, and everyone is welcome to
attend.
The laying on of hands and anointing will be available during the
service for all who wish to receive it. For the last three years this
event has been held at various cathedrals (Llandaff in 20 I I,
Liverpool in 2012 and Lichfield in 2013) so it is a great honour to be
asked to host this event at Holy Trinity in 2014.
By now you will all know that in 2015 we will be celebrating the I 50th
anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone at Holy Trinity. In order
to prepare for this celebration November 20 14 will be a special month
of prayer for the parish.1 am hoping that during this month we will
deepen our prayer life and will begin to grow into a real community of
prayer. Details of the month of prayer will be available in subsequent
issues of the magazine.
So, as you can see, we have a busy and very interesting autumn ahead,
and I look forward to sharing all these events with you.
