Trinity Church in 2007

Special services were held during Holy

Easter, 2007. These included a Palm Sunday procession with a
donkey at Holy Trinity

Farewell to Nigel
Nigel’s last Sunday with
us was on 17 June, before moving to begin a new ministry in Holyhead.
On that day he presided over the Eucharist for
the last time as our Curate at 10.30 a.m. and following the service we
said our official goodbye to him at a reception in the Hall.
Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra
Concert
On Monday 23 July there was
a concert by the Cologne New
Philharmonic Orchestra in Holy Trinity Church at 7.30 pm. The
concert
included works by Vivaldi, Mozart & Elgar.

St Luke’s Coffee Morning
The annual coffee morning in
support of St Luke’s hospital for the clergy, held in the church hall
on October 17th (St Luke’s-tide), raised £534.59. My thanks
go to everyone who helped in organising the morning, particularly to
Marjorie Dwyfor Jones, who is the inspiration behind it all and is
largely responsible for recruiting the huge band of workers who rally
to the hospital’s support every year.

"Seeds for Africa" coffee
morning
There was a special
coffee morning in the church hall on Saturday 3 November, in aid
of farmers in our link diocese of Lango
in Uganda, to enable farmers to buy seeds for next season's crops after
floods destroyed this season's crops. There was also a
retiring collection for "Seeds for Africa" after services on Sunday 4
November. The coffee morning and collection raised more than
£350, which will be sent directly to those in need.
Autumn
Parish Conference
This autumn’s Parish Conference was on the afternoon of
Sunday 18th November and was on the theme of Baptism. The
Church in Wales has recently revised its Baptism and Confirmation
services and this was an opportunity to introduce the new service
of Baptism. It was also an opportunity to think how we
could be more creative in the way we celebrate this vital sacrament and
how we can make families more welcome and keep in touch with them
afterwards.
Christmas
Fayre
The Christmas Fayre was held in the church hall on Saturday 24
November. The photographs below show scenes from the Fayre, which
was enjoyed by stall holders and customers. Many thanks to
everyone who contributed and attended.

News
of the Mothers' Union in 2007
We had an interesting year
in 2007, with a variety of speakers and members’ afternoons. In
May, we
enjoyed our trip – a scenic drive over the Denbigh moors, then from
Betws y Coed to Capel Curig, Bethesda and back along the coast to
Llandudno. We visited the Marble Church in Bodelwyddan, the Tweed
Mill and Betws y Coed.
MU members enjoying ice creams on the outing.
In June, we welcomed
Millie, a Mothers’ Union leader and Robinson, a
youth worker, both from Uganda. Millie talked about the work of
the Mothers’ Union in Uganda and Robinson spoke of his work leading
Mothers’ Union choirs and bringing young people into the church through
music. During our afternoon tea, we watched a video of the choirs
performing. After a most enlightening meeting, we presented
Millie with £70 towards her work, a gift and photographs to
remind her of her visit to Llandudno.
Angela and I were privileged to attend a Mothers’ Union
service in the
Cathedral, along with Arthur and Thomson (two priests from Uganda),
Millie and Robinson. We enjoyed lunch in the Diocesan Centre,
where we had another chance to chat with our visitors. Any member
who would like to have a link partner in Uganda please let me know.
On 9th August, we celebrated Mary Sumner Day with afternoon
tea, at which there was a presentation of certificates. We were
honoured that the Provincial President for Wales, Mary Salmon, our
Diocesan President, Kath Broadbent and our Deanery President, Joan Drew
were all able to be with us.
We were too busy in 2007 to have our usual summer
break!
