Son et Lumiere
This took place on Thursday 10
December 2009 and the "Nativity" windows in the chancel were
illuminated in turn while the choir sang or readings were given.

The Son et Lumiere was followed
by mulled wine, mince pies, handbell ringing
and traditional
Christmas songs in the church hall.
Parish Christmas Fayre
This took place
in the Church Hall on Saturday 21 November, in aid of Holy
Trinity and St. Tudno's Churches. The Fayre included
refreshments, seasonal stalls, entertainment by the Holy Trinity
handbell ringers, competitions and Sponsor-a-Slate
for St. Tudno's Church.
Remembrance Day
The Civic Service for
Remembrance was held at Holy Trinity on Sunday 8 November. The
photographs show the parade leaving the church after the service, to
begin marching to the cenotaph for the two minutes' silence and laying
of wreaths.
Harvest Festival
It has been our custom in recent
years to have our Harvest
Festival on the first Sunday of October. However, as the roofing work
at Holy Trinity continued well into
October, Harvest Thanksgiving was not held until Sunday 25th October. The photographs below show
some of the harvest arrangements.

Jane
retires
Our Vicar, Revd Jane Allen,
retired on 31 August. On Sunday 30 August the 10.30 am service
at Holy Trinity was followed by a reception and lunch and the 4.00
pm service of Songs of Praise at St. Tudno's
was followed by tea and cakes, giving two opportunities to wish
Jane well for the future. See the Parish

Pilgrimage
2009
The North Wales Pilgrimage to
the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham took place from Monday
27th to Thursday 30th July.
Organ
Recital by Philip Rushforth
The organ recital for the
Llandudno
Festival this year was given by Philip Rushforth the Director
of Music at Chester Cathedral, on Thursday 23rd July.
Philip is rightly considered to be
one of the finest organists in the land if not in Europe. He
played
works by Bach, John Stanley and Louis Vierne amongst others.

On Friday 10 July the choir
performed the Rotary Anniversary
Concert, in aid of Ty Gobaith.

of Bangor confirmed
five candidates at the Confirmation and Eucharist service at 10.30 am.

The choir I Cantori de Carmel
from the Monterey Peninsular in California sang at our
Choral Eucharist at 10.30 am.
Guild of St. Raphael
Afternoon Tea, Wednesday
June 3rd
The
Guild held a special Afternoon Tea
to raise money to send in
support of two USPG centres of healing in Africa:
The
House of Resurrection Haven, South Africa – a church-run hostel
which cares for those living with HIV/AIDS.It is a place of love and security,
which offers a message of hope.
St Francis Hospital, Zambia –
the only access to health care for a large rural population. ‘The
intervention of the church is vital, because its broad network means it
can reach remote rural areas that are frequently overlooked.
Norman’s Twenty Years of Music at Holy Trinity
In May we celebrated Norman Rimmer’s
20th anniversary as Director of Music at Holy Trinity Church. Norman actually started at Holy Trinity on
Easter Day in 1989 but it was sensible to wait until a few weeks after
Easter this year to celebrate the anniversary properly. So on Saturday May 9th
there was a very special Choral Evensong followed by a
reception in the Hall. We are very lucky to have a musician of
Norman’s calibre as Organist
and Choirmaster and I know that his music is very much appreciated.

Extravaganza

During the Llandudno
Extravaganza, refreshments were served in the church hall on
Saturday 2 and Monday 4 May.

included a delightful arrangement by Ben from the Sunday School (right,

Palm Sunday
The
Palm Sunday procession on 5 April was led by the Sunday School
Cross and
followed by a donkey, the Sunday
School, Choir
and congregation.
The Ven. Elwyn Roberts
It was sad to hear of the death
in February of Archdeacon Elwyn Roberts, former Rector of this
parish. Archdeacon Elwyn struggled with Parkinsons
Disease for many years with great humour and bravery. There
was a good representation from Llandudno at the funeral service in the
Cathedral, a sign of the affection in which many of our parishioners
had for him. Dean Trevor Evans, who served as Vicar
here under Elwyn, gave the oration which included many references to
Elwyn’s ministry here. We send our love and the
assurance of our prayers to Eiflyn, Llinos and Sioned and all the
family. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; and let light perpetual
shine upon him!

Installation of Bishop Andrew
Our new Bishop was
installed at Bangor Cathedral on Saturday
24th January. Please pray for Bishop Andrew, his wife Caroline and their children Matthew, Beth, Hannah and Harriet. Several of our
Parishioners were able to attend the service and greet Bishop Andrew
after his installation.

Cytûn News
The
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
is kept each year from 18th to 25th January. This year the first
and last days of
the week were both Sundays and so the Week began with a service in Holy Trinity on 18th at 5 p.m. and ended at St John’s Methodist Church on Sunday 25th with the main service of the Week at 6.30 pm. On
the intervening
weekdays there were the usual services at 10 30 a.m. each morning
in various of our
member churches around
the town.
New
Cytûn President –
Having served
eight months more than the usual year’s term I handed the
Cytûn Presidency
over to the Revd Mike Long of St John’s Methodist Church at the concluding service of the Week of Prayer at St John’s on Sunday 25th of January. It has been a great privilege
to be President
and I have enjoyed my term of office but I was quite relieved
to hand over to
Mike and wish him every
blessing for his term of office.

Christus
Natus Est - December 2008
"Over the years, we have
amassed a collection of almost 50 nativity scenes – large and small –
from our travels both near to and far from home. We thought that
others might like to see these charming (and sometimes very amusing)
scenes, so we planned an early start to Christmas with a
get-together on Sunday 7th December to view these scenes and enjoy some
mulled wine and mince pies. (We turned down one nativity
we saw in the ‘wild west’ of the USA, where every character, including
Jesus, was a grizzly bear!!)
"As our minds turn to the Holy Land, we thought it would be
good to raise money for a charity based there so there was a collection
for Children of Peace. This
is a nonpartisan, multifaith charity dedicated to building friendship,
trust and reconciliation between Israeli and Palestinian children, aged
7 – 17, and their communities. Their projects respect the
traditions, values and customs of both communities. The charity
has an office in London and has the support of the Prime
Minister."

Church involvement in the Christmas Parade 2008
For the first time this year the
churches, through
Cytûn, were
invited by Llandudno
Town Council to take part in the Town Christmas Parade on Saturday 6th December. Children from the member churches took part, forming a nativity scene.
