Events in 2014
Winter services
Winter services were held once a month from October to
April.
Carols by Candlelight
Sunday December 21 at 3.00 pm and at
5.00 pm.
There were two services as these
are popular but the church is
small. Both services were very well attended, with 132 at 3.00 pm
and 102 (plus two dogs) at 5.00 pm.
Boer War Remembrance on Saturday 8 November
There was a short service in the
church at 9.00 am, followed
by laying of wreaths at the Memorial in the churchyard.
Autumn Working Party
This was on Saturday 18 October
and included putting away the benches, cleaning the church and tidying
the churchyard. Cut grass in the churchyard was raked away as
part of
the management to improve the conditions for wild flowers and
wildlife.
Compline
by Candlelight
During the summer these services
are held once a month, at 7.30 pm
on Tuesday evenings. The dates this year were:

5 August
2 September
Harvest Festival
This was the last service of the
summer season and was Sunday 28 September, at 4.00
pm. Ther church was decorated with flowers and gifts of ood and
there was a collection
of tins and packets of food for Conwy Food Bank.
Friends
of St. Tudno's AGM
This was on Saturday 20
September, beginning with a Eucharist at
St. Tudno's at 2.00 pm, at which the preacher was Archdeacon Paul
of Bangor, shown below with the Rector. This was followed by the
AGM at the Queen's Hotel
in
Llandudno at 3.30 pm, finishing with Afternoon Tea and a slide
show.
Service for Peace
On Sunday 21 September the
Llandudno Branch of Soropotomists International held a service at St.
Tudno's to mark the International Day for Peace.
Open Day
Saturday 13 September, 10.00 am
- 5.00 pm. The Friends
of St. Tudno's offered refreshments and information on the
church and churchyard, there were also a few stalls.
Open Air Songs of Praise
The annual Songs of Praise
service was held at 4.00 pm on
Sunday 24 August. Members of the congregation chose and
introduced favourite hymns.
Recorder
concert
Concelebrated Eucharist
On 6 August the Society of
Catholic Priests of the Dioceses of Bangor and St. Asaph held their
Concelebrated Eucharist at St. Tudno's.
Commemoration
of the Beginning of the First World War
There was a special service on
Sunday 27 July at 4.00
pm. The service will end with a procession to
one of the War Graves in the churchyard, for prayers and laying of a
wreath. Refreshments were served after the service and there was
an opportunity to follow a self-guided walk visiting the other
War Grave and WWI memorials in the churchyard. Leaflets for the
self-guided walk remained available until Remembrance Day and
the graves weremarked
with red ribbons (the walk did not include the War Graves
in the adjoining Great Orme Cemetery).
All
Age Worship
On Sunday 22 June at 3.00 pm
there was an ecumenical service
of All Age Worship, led by members of Emmanual Christian Centre.
Their music group lead the singing and everyone joined in a picnic
afterwards. The
service will be held in the open air, in beautiful weather.
St. Tudno's Day
St. Tudno's Day was on Thursday
5 June and was celebrated by a Pilgrimage
Walk from Holy Trinity to St. Tudno's. There was a short act of
worship at Holy Trinity at 10.00 am and on the way to St. Tudno' Church
St. Tudno's Well was visited
by kind permission of the landowners. There was a Eucharist at
St. Tudno's at 12.30 pm, which included blessing the outdoor pulpit,
which had been dedicated on St. Tudno's Day 100 years ago.
Spring Working Party
This
took place on Saturday 17 May and the chuch and churchyard were
prepared for the summer season of services, including setting out the
benches used at the open air services.
School Visit
On 9 May St. Tudno's was
visited by children and staff from Rode Heath School, who were enjoying
a trip to Llandudno.
Friends
of St. Tudno's Church Fair
This was on Saturday 10 May
and was held in Holy Trinity church hall. The Friends
are
currently raising money for replacement of the screen doors and window
coverings.
Easter
The Easter Vigil
service was held at St. Tudno's at 5.30 am on Easter day. The
service
included lighting of the new Paschal candle from a new fire, renewal of
Baptismal vows and the first Eucharist of Easter. The service was
followed by a cooked breakfast.
Archdeacon's Visitation
In March, Archdeacon Paul of Bangor (centre in the photo) began
his visit to the parish with Morning Prayer at St. Tudno's.
