August Organ Concerts

Following the complete refurbishment of our organ by Henry Willis & Sons, we are pleased to announce a summer season of organ recitals.

Grand Re-opening Organ Concert

Paul Carr (International Concert Organist)

Tuesday, 10th July at 1.00 p.m.

Admission free – retiring collection.

Paul has played for us before and those who attend the August Organ Concerts will remember him wowing us with his performance in 2016 of the Finale of the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony – he is well know for his entertaining programmes and virtuoso playing.   Already this year Paul has given recitals at St Paul’s Cathedral, Exeter Cathedral, Birmingham Cathedral, Ripon Cathedral, Blackburn Cathedral, Ellesmere College and many other venues.

Our series of Summer Lunch-time Organ Concerts will be held again this year on the four Tuesdays in August from 1.00 – 1.45 p.m. These concerts have proved popular with visitors and locals alike who turn out in great numbers to hear our very fine organ being put through its paces in music appropriate to the holiday season. Admission is free but there will be a retiring collection in aid of our Organ Maintenance Fund. Our recitalists for 2018 are:

Tuesday, 7th August   –   Norman Rimmer BEM (Holy Trinity)

Tuesday, 14th August –   Charles Jones (Holy Trinity)

Tuesday, 21st August –    Alessandro Bianchi (Italy)

Tuesday, 28th August –   Graham Eccles (St Asaph)
